I have no idea what this is; it's a fairly boring tree on the corner of the street, most of the time, but as I went past today I noticed it was flowering; this is the sort of thing for which a 12x zoom is useful. The shot immediately before this one features the same flowers and the south end of a north-facing hummingbird, which unfortunately didn't stay around for me to get a better shot.

I think in a week or two there should be peach and pear blossom, if the weather doesn't do anything too untoward.

Office 2003, it seems, is too smart to let me have the same document open in two windows at once. On the other hand, I can open a read-only copy in StarOffice, so that will do.

(I'm not adding words this week. I'm reading through the 60K I have already, spotting glitches and missing bits. Sometimes it would be really handy to have two passages side by side.)
