Southern Magnolia
I first noticed the flowers back in May, with their huge waxy white petals. Never mind teacups -- these flowers are teapot-sized.
After the petals drop
these rather pretty seed heads are left behind.
Three months later, the fruit is ripening.
It took me a little thought and googling to realize this was the same kind of tree.
Eventually the seed heads open
to reveal these vivid berries.
Mission Statement
Reading, writing, plant photography, and the small details of my life, with digressions into science and computing.
