. These were all from the Thursday of the second week, which was a glorious day when we had a very good walk and saw much heather.

The thing about heather is, it covers whole hillsides and turns them purple. But it's pretty up close, too.

What a lovely, subtle color that is. My collection of heathers and heaths is threatening to take over my back garden.

Someone up my mother's street had a small display of
dyed
heathers one year, lurid blues and oranges, which I thought was rather missing the point.
