I was about halfway home on the bus this evening, and the bus had just pulled in to a stop, when there was a sort of crumping noise and a jolt. It turned out the bus had been rear-ended. No-one hurt; the bus wasn't really damaged at all, and it didn't look as though the car suffered much more than a broken headlight. Most of the passengers evaporated, but I didn't feel like walking a mile and a half with my laptop through the sultry evening, so I stuck around and read my book, and filled in an incident report card for the driver. By the time the next bus came along, there were three police cars and a bus company vehicle in attendance. The driver was a lady in a long blue robe and a white headscarf -- Somali, maybe -- and had a small child and a baby with her.
