I have my road back! For the last many weeks, the main north-south street between home and work has been under reconstruction, with only one lane in use each way and occasional days when I had to walk down to the next major intersection for my bus because my crosswalk was being dug up or repaved. This morning, as if by magic, there was shiny new pavement and traffic moving freely on all four lanes. It felt like being able to breathe again.

A long quiet weekend seems like a very good thing right now. A couple of weeks in a cool climate would be even better, but that will have to wait a while longer. I have books. I have movies. I even have a couple of half-played computer games, if I feel the urge. I also have housework, laundry, shopping ...
