Bailing

At this point, I'm accepting that I'm not going to finish my 50,000 words in 30 days. On my showing so far, I can average a bit over 1000 words a day over normal life, but that's a strain and includes weekend days when I do little else useful. So I'm at about 27K now, and even though I'm on vacation there are too many other things I need to do. I'm not giving up entirely on the story, but I don't expect to be a Nanowrimo winner this year unless something unprecedented happens.

So I went to bed at a semi-reasonable hour last night, and this morning my right eyelid isn't twitching, for the first time this month. Next up; wash my hair and head out to the mall to see about my glasses and watch battery.

Well, that's still a lot of words you wouldn't otherwise have got down on paper*, presumably?

The eyelid-twitching is a pain - I occasionally get it, and I can't do anything while it's going on.

*Or screen.

It's a very gentle twitch, more of a quiver really, but it's annoying. (There was one particularly early and stressful morning this summer when both eyes were going at different speeds, until I got my caffeine level up a bit.)

The words are indeed words that I probably wouldn't have otherwise, and I'm quite pleased about that.

I can do novel_in_90, sort of, which is supposed to e 750 words per day I can do 1000 words per day if a project is flowing well, but NaNo is, and will always will be, out of reach.

Well done on writing all those words though.

Thanks! thing_in_150, 500 words a day for five months, is more my speed, but life is such that I've only completed that once out of three tries. After two years of trying I'm not sure wordcount goals are really good for my process -- the characters tend to just sit around and blather until they feel like getting on with the plot.
