October cactus

I don't usually expect much in the way of cactus flowers at this time of year, but there's this thing down the street from my office, on the same corner as the big night-blooming one, that's had buds for a week or two, and today I noticed a couple of open flowers. (This sort of thing, slightly above head-height, is where the pivotable LCD display comes in handy!)

I love those little pivotable screens too. My current (dead) camera has one, and I want to have that feature when I replace it.

That and the 12x optical zoom were the main attractions of this camera, I think. On the other hand, because the thing's rather big and heavy and on a short neck strap, I find I tend to use the viewfinder a lot more than I did with the smaller one, and only deploy the screen when I really need it.
