Spring seems to be busting out all over Livejournal this week. Here, the theme of the week is definitely pink cactus flowers, but just about every tree and shrub in sight seems to be coming into some kind of bloom. The air is warm and sweet, but just about everybody is suffering with allergies. I spotted a couple of yellow butterflies today -- not the big stripy ones -- but they didn't pose for me. I took my 1000th picture this morning; oddly enough, it features pink cactus flowers.
I'm getting increasingly worried about the big baobab tree by the Admin building, and also the acacia at the end of the cactus garden, next to the defunct boojum tree. Neither seems to be showing any signs of life, and I'm afraid the construction of the Alumni Plaza may have killed them off. The yellow prickly pears in the cactus garden, however, are full of buds, and the chollas are on the verge of covering themselves in waxy little red flowers.
