Last Thursday afternoon was the recreational part of the conference, which involved a visit to the Museum of the Rockies, which for a small museum has rather a fine collection of dinosaur fossils, casts and sculptures, including this fine fellow outside the front door. Notice the snow-capped mountains in the background.
The same evening, the conference dinner was held at a ski resort up in the mountains, where there was still visible snow on the ground. The ride up was quite scenic; there were lots of little yellow flowers like miniature sunflowers growing by the roadside on the lower slopes, and higher up some more delicate yellow flowers I didn't recognize.
Talking of snow-capped mountains, the airport terminal commanded rather a fine view of same.
