What I found on the way to the grocery store

I never did get to that clump of purple-pink cactus blooms halfway between home and work, but I took the camera along when I went out for groceries this afternoon, and found another one there.

	Purple Prickly Pear In a corner of the parking lot at my local strip mall. I love that delicate, waxy translucency.
	Agave flower A closeup of part of a ten-foot spike. These things spring up so fast that they must grow perceptibly in a day, and the dead spikes stay around for a year or two afterwards. I don't think I've ever been this close to one in the act of flowering.
