I caught the first bus this morning, and wandered around the campus in the early morning light and relative coolness, dodging joggers and looking for night-flowering cactus blooms. Mostly it was a case of flower yesterday or flower tomorrow, but this one I caught in the act.

What a spectacular flower! as you may have seen or read, We are having a terribly wet June. A lot of the north of England has been flooded more than once. London seems to have missed most of the worst but last night there was a monsoon type rain that I haven't seen for ages!

They are amazing, but they open after sunset and wither by about 8 the next morning, so I have to get up very early to catch them.

My mother lives in Sheffield, but she hasn't been too badly affected by the flooding.

That's good! She must be one of the lucky one's. More rain is on it's way and it doesn't seem to be letting up for more than a day at a time.
