Dinner: ersatz pasta sauce

Two Roma tomatoes; five mushrooms; a slice of onion; half a red pepper, all cut into pieces less than 1cm on a side. One cup Trader Joe's Tomato and Roasted Red Pepper soup. Lavish sprinkles of basil leaves, paprika powder, ground black pepper. Microwaved in my smallest casserole dish for six minutes, stirring halfway through. Served half of it over cheese tortellini and separately steamed sliced zucchini; saved the rest in the fridge.
Verdict: quite convincing; the red pepper was a little on the crisp side still, but otherwise it tasted a lot like pasta sauce, and considerably nicer than the current jar of same (which somehow manages to be both bland and too salty.) I was thinking about adding garlic and didn't, but there seems to have been enough in the soup.
