I took the new camera for a stroll around campus after lunch, enjoying my ability to reach high-up or otherwise inaccessible flowers. This chorisia blossom was only a little over my head, but I don't think I could have got[ten] it as well with the old camera.

Thanks! It's just the built-in lens of a Canon Powershot S5 IS, with 12x optical zoom -- a lot better than the 3x on my little Sony. I'm still finding my way around it, but I'm quite pleased with what it can do already!
