Tonight, for no reason that I can discern -- except that McAfee updated itself last night in a reboot-requiring way -- Thunderbird on the Vista machine has ceased to work as a mail client. I've tried everything I can think of -- rebooted, uninstalled and reinstalled, uninstalled, rebooted and reinstalled, deleted and re-added my account, changed my passwords in case the servers had suddenly decided to enforce the rules that a couple of my existing ones didn't meet. Nothing. It claims to be connected to the server, but nothing happens. Windows Mail, which I'd rather not use at all, works fine; so does Thunderbird on the XP machine (which runs Norton).
Edit: AHA!
(Yup, McAfee problem.)
