It's much warmer here than it was in Boulder, and it will take a while for the a/c to catch up, but at least -- unlike one of my colleagues -- I have a/c that more or less works.

We spent a little time on Pearl Street before heading for the airport. There are some amazingly lovely (and pricey) things in the Boulder Arts and Crafts store -- three-dimensional puzzle sculptures and gorgeous kaleidoscopes and boxes carved from satin-smooth wood; hair ornaments carved from elk antlers; Shaker-style oval boxes; delicate pewter fridge magnets in the shapes of leaves and flowers. I didn't buy any of them, but I did bring home an interesting-looking book from the Boulder Bookstore, and enjoyed strolling down the street and looking at the bright flowers and animal sculptures. (No photographs. The camera was in the car.)

Like Tucson, the Denver airport is ripping out most of its payphones. Also on the way out are the banks of arrivals monitors in the airside concourses, which serve no real purpose these days.

The computer booted without drama -- given a little keyboard-swapping -- but took forever to see the wireless, and is now sitting at an awkward angle on the desktop in order to catch it. I may have to invest in an aftermarket booster antenna.

The arrivals monitors serve no purpose? Is that because "everybody" uses a gizmo to tell if the planes are coming, or is it because nothing arrives anyway? Or fill in the real answer; I dunno.
