Neat! We have one by the house with little red blossoms.
I was humbled earlier this year when I went where I thought there were milkweeds and realized I didn't actually know what they look like any more. When did that knowledge leave my head? So we bought one.
You can buy them? These are weeds around here, I think; they twine in chain-link fence and bushes and the occasional cactus that sits still for too long.
When we went to "Magic Wings," the butterfly place up the road, the gift shop had milkweeds with Monarch caterpillars on (one per) and a mesh sleeve over the plant to keep it in. When it came out of the cocoon and we let it fly away, we still had the plant, which we put by the corner of the house. It may be an annual -- we'll see.
