We went walking again today, over the moor which is now supposed to be infested by highland cattle for some obscure conservation purpose -- but we didn't see any of them -- and up Burbage Valley and along Stanage Edge where the rock formations are huge and grey and the climbers' gear tinkles like little bells, and down into Hathersage where it is still possible to buy ice cream at a certain little shop even though the rest of the shop has changed beyond recognition. Then we got the train home. All very satisfactory.
