All sorts of unexpected things turn up in the shady corners around the older University buildings -- daffodils, irises, and even lilac.

Of possible interest to the fellow Flickrites on my list: they finally implemented the sets-of-sets thing that people have been asking for forever. It's called 'collections', and each can contain either sets or other collections, nested up to five deep. I found it quite satisfying to be able to group my China and flower sets in easily-findable places.

The high temperature passed 90 on campus today, and it was 85 in my apartment when I got home, so I've given in and turned on the AC. I think I spent the first of our allotted two no-heat-no-cooling weeks in Palo Alto, where I had to run the heater in the hotel room every evening.

What a serendipitous find! I wish we could grow lilacs here, but it's a lot of work; they don't usually get the right conditions. Pretty photo.

Thank you! I'm continually amazed by what will grow around here, given the right spot and enough water.

I do miss rhododendrons, though.
