Printer Update

ellarienThis evening I took my courage in my hands and set up the new printer, a Canon Pixma 4000.
Okay, I'm impressed. Installation took a while, but went perfectly smoothly, even on my cranky five-year-old desktop, and I just printed out a 4x6 photo that looks exactly like something from Boots*, if not better. And now I'm pondering the probable reactions, if they'd lived to see such a thing, of not only my technophilic, amateur photographer father, but also his father, who was a printer by trade, and endlessly amazed by modern colour printing.
One slightly less impressive thing was that the registration process had a box (unchecked by default) to check to opt OUT of being sent marketing junk, which is a wrinkle I hadn't met before, and I thought rather sneaky. On the other hand, e-mail address was not a required field, which was nice.
