... who unfortunately had a very hard time with the concept of a female customer who might actually be capable of carrying out tests and experiments on her own initiative. (Hint: 'I'm sorry you feel that way' is not a useful response to conclusions based on logic and reproducible experimental results, even if reported in a less than perfectly calm tone.) And told me they've been having 'server problems' for the last 24 hours. Which doesn't explain why my cable signal is so weak that I can't get decent (or any, right now) TV with a splitter (either splitter; I've tried two different ones) in the line, and they can't communicate with my cable box.

And I asked about dial-up access, which he claimed they don't have. Except that it's right there on the website ... with a 9.95 activation fee. Probably not worth it, though I must have run through my free time for the month on Compuserve already ...


Technician coming on Tuesday morning. Sigh.

I really should forget about this and get on with my day, but I'm thoroughly fed up now.


It doesn't help that incipient presbyopia is making it really hard for me to decipher tiny print in awkward places.

Edit: Also, it appears that the technician yesterday took the cover off the outside connector box and forgot to replace it.
