I'm home again, and this time, I hope, I'm not going anywhere else until at least next March.
They'd been threatening snow for last night, but it didn't come, and this morning the sky was blue and bright again. There were hawks sitting in the trees alongside the expressway, and prairie dogs in the fields.
An hour and forty minutes from wheels-down to walking into my apartment seems a little excessive (longer than it took to fly from Denver to Tucson), but I suppose a Friday afternoon in November is not conducive to rapid ground transit.
Also, I think I managed to leave my only pair of gloves, and a hat I'd had nearly thirty years even if I never liked it much, in the rental car. [Edit: It turns out they were actually left in the car of the friend I was staying with. That's a relief.]
There were nine messages on my answering machine, all election-related recordings, most of them urging me to vote Republican; one was from Rudy Giuliani and one from Laura Bush, as well as one from the local senator himself. I dread to think how much phone-spam the actual voters must have received.
