That's the current checklist of 'popular interests' offered in the LJ Update Profile page. I don't have any of them listed in my profile, and I don't intend to; books, internet and coffee are pretty much the only ones that really appeal to me. (Having 'family' listed as an interest reminds me of those consumer survey cards that come with small appliances, where they list 'grandchildren' as a possible hobby.) There are at least half a dozen items on that list that I actively don't care for, have no wish to have in my life, or regard as necessary evils.

But then, I've realized for a while that I'm not exactly the target demographic of the new LJ.

I must admit their options made me laugh. I wonder if these are the most popular items listed across LJ - though I somehow think philosphy isn't! Of maybe, like SF& fantasy fandom, philosphers across the world have chosen LJ to set up their communities...

That's funny. Didn't LJ have one of those tag clusters on their own front page, saying 'these are the most common interests' only a couple of weeks ago? (Too lazy to log out and check right now). Because I've forgotten much of it, but 'music' and 'writing' were high on _that_ list.

In any case, I doubt that 'poetry' and 'literature' are *really* that common.

And laughing (184271) is less popular than sex (257802) but more popular than the internet (160970). I think this will make very interesting fodder for someone at some point...
