Irony

Now that I'm finally getting away from Tucson, the seven-day forecast is calling for temperatures in the 80's and rain all week.

My plane is projected to be half an hour late. It surprises me that they can tell, twelve hours out, but maybe that's based on when it left London.

(Edit: now nearly an hour late.)

Draycott, not Drayton, is where the flooding was getting on Midland Mainline's tracks, but it isn't any more, and the Heathrow Express still claims to be running normally.

Pretty much done with the packing and cleaning, now -- just need to take out the trash and start shutting everything down. It grieves me a little that I'm going to miss three episodes of Doctor Who, but I daren't leave all the electronics plugged in for a fortnight in thunderstorm season.

I am not taking a laptop. I am, however, carrying about 40Gb of storage, between the iPod, thumb drives and flash memory for the PDA and camera.
It all adds up to about the size and weight of a paperback.

I'm at the gate in the Phoenix airport, with plenty of time -- about three hours -- to spare. I suppose I could have left home later, but I like to build in big margins when I'm traveling alone.
