It feels strange to be doing laundry on a Thursday evening, but I am; not that I need anything from the laundry basket to pack, but at least I won't have to do so much when I get back.

The weather continues mild, breezy and humid, with magnificent anvil-clouds boiling up over the mountains. At one point today the floods around Drayton were getting in the way of trains from London to Sheffield, but that should be over by tomorrow morning, apparently; I'm just hoping that the flood crest working its way down the Thames isn't going to cause problems around Heathrow and central London on Saturday.

In the continuing small-gigabyte saga, I splurged $50 on a 4Gb thumb drive today. I remember when the 1Gb Frankenstein-drive attached to my workstation in London died in a thunderstorm, round about ten years ago, and we replaced it with a 4Gb job about eight inches square and two thick, and couldn't imagine how we could ever fill it.

Still need to locate: power adapters, UK coins, PDA keyboard, chequebook.

To do: finish and put away laundry, clean kitchen and bathroom, book taxi, pay rent, pack hand-luggage, online check-in (Apparently not available for Phoenix. Or not available for me. It isn't quite clear.)

Mission Statement

Reading, writing, plant photography, and the small details of my life, with digressions into science and computing.
