So today, finally, we got what I call a real storm: 1.2" (that's about 10% of the expected annual total in these parts) in about half an hour, followed by a slower drizzle for most of the rest of the afternoon. At the height of it, the street outside my office was awash from curb to curb and passing vehicles were raising six-foot plumes of spray like watery wings. The temperature dropped, briefly, below 70 degrees, and it's only in the mid-70's now, but the humidity is sky-high.
