It turned out not to be a Phoenix weekend, so I was able to pop up to the mall and have my watches seen to; nice leather strap for Useful Watch, new battery for New Watch; iced mocha and some ogling of pretty crockery for me. (If I didn't have an apartment full of books, and if it was not so awkward to carry home, I could easily collect china.) The mannequins in the department stores all seem to have absurdly small waists, enough to make me -- currently at the very bottom end of the recommended weight range for my height -- feel like some huge lumbering thing.

I have also acquired groceries, taken out the trash, and picked up the mail (tax forms, mostly), and am about to see if I can do something about the disgraceful state of the kitchen floor.

Extended one scene, put in another, and started a third. Undone now stands at just over 5k altogether, probably about halfway.

I worry a bit that I'm getting my angst far too cheaply on this one; it's hard to strike a balance between letting the characters react genuinely to what they think is going on, and slipping in enough clues to let the audience know that actually, something quite different is happening.
