The red and striped barrel cactus flowers are starting to open; they'll carry on until September.
Also, there are a lot of buds on the big night-flowering cactus on the corner, which mostly only puts them out by ones and twos. I don't reckon much to my chances of getting up early enough on the right morning to catch them open, but I might try.
