Happy 4th of July to those who celebrate.

Domesticity

I wasn't kidding when I said holidays are good for catching up on housework. I've been gently pottering around all day, dusting a bit here, scrubbing a bit there (microfiber sponges are wonderful things), winding up by clearing the ironing pile down to its year-old foundation while watching Pride and Prejudice. Once I've put away the ironing board and the vacuum cleaner, the apartment will be about as clean and neat as it ever gets. This is just as well, as it may be the last chance I get at it before the end of September.

ETA And it's raining again. Rain on the 4th of July is pretty much traditional in these parts -- quite often it's the opening salvo of the monsoon, but we got an early start on that this year. Really, in Tucson this is about the worst time of year for outdoor festivities.
