Plot noodles, not quite al dente

Things are falling into place, I think. I had thought last night that ties together two of the dangling questions rather neatly. On the other hand, I'm not sure I can make it plausible enough for a lost baby to grow to adulthood (and a very curious, net-savvy adulthood) in a small, mostly closed society without noticing or being noticed by his long-lost father who is a fairly well-known figure in the same society. It might work if the shipwights are inscrutable enough.
