I was very idle yesterday, though I did read a good chunk of Olympos. I spent most of the night having anxiety dreams about travel plans. This is understandable, I think, given that my passport is off being renewed and I can't make any firm plans until I get it back ...
Today I have renewed the antivirus subscription on the laptop, taken out the trash, and done laundry, so now I can stay in the relatively cool indoors for the rest of the day. All the dryers in one of the two laundry rooms were out of order, flashing random numbers on the timer displays. I put a cold-wash jacket in the warm cycle, but it seems to have survived.
This is traditionally the day for the monsoon to break, but there isn't a cloud in the sky, and the air is so dry that a slice of bread left on a plate will be crunchy on the upper side within half an hour. (This does make it sound as if the shortage of dryers shouldn't be a huge problem, but I don't really have the space or the hardware to have a whole wash hanging around indoors. I probably should do some handwash, though, and not bother with tumble-drying the attendant towels afterwards.)
