Deadline has been met, with a few hours to spare. This evening I have e-mails to write, and bills to pay.
Have woken up Old Laptop, which is now downloading antivirus updates in preparation for probably doing duty as small travelling laptop next week.
A few years ago, I would have been delighted to learn that a hotel had dial-up dataports on its phones. Now, my reaction is more like 'What? No broadband? What kind of dump is this anyway?' Amazing how spoiled I am these days. Even the Palo Alto Super 8 has broadband, after all.
The latest Noble Collection catalog features 'The Wrath of the Witch-King Incense Burner' as well as an ever-expanding range of LOTR-movie-based jewellery, and stuff based on jewellery, and jewellery based on stuff, and jewellery based on jewellery but not actually featured in the movies. The non-LOTR stuff (this being the general catalog, not the LOTR-specific one) is even more bizarre, in a way. I wonder how much of the profit on the one brooch I bought from them three years ago has been eaten up in glossy catalogs by now.
