Progressing, slowly
Jun. 10th, 2006 05:23 pmI have mostly packed my suitcase, gathered most of the bits to pack in the other bags, collected the mail, done a bit of picking up around the house, and obtained groceries. Four loads of laundry are nearly ready to be switched from washer to dryer or hanging position. (I had a brief panic when I couldn't find the key to the laundry room, but it turned up on top of the bookcase inside the front door, under a stray mini-jewel case. I really need to think of a place to keep the thing and remember to put it back there every time; you'd think I'd learn, after doing laundry twenty-odd times a year for the last eight+ years.)
For some reason, my local Safeway is stocking fewer and fewer varieties of 8-oz fruit cans; for the first time, I've had to resort to buying the 15.5oz size, which will have to be split and saved in the fridge.
Edit:
Maybe I should have had a nap instead. I put the washing in the dryers (after shaking off the worst of the shredded tissue), came back to the apartment, went back at the appointed time and found the contents of the dryers still faintly damp, brought the whole mess home and dumped it on the couch to air out. Just now (9pm) I started to make some effort to sort it out, and realized I was missing a fitted sheet. Went back to the laundry room to look, and found not only the sheet but half a washer-load still sitting, damp, in the bottom of the washing machine.
It will probably be dry in the morning anyway. In the meantime, I'm going to bed. Next update probably from New Mexico.
