After all that sleep yesterday, I managed to stay fairly functional today.

I have bought an iPod. My first attempt, at lunchtime, was frustrated because some confusion arose over my eligibility to buy one through the student store, but this was sorted out with help from my boss and our chief admin person. The computer is now occupied in rendering my music library into the appropriate format.

Edit: Gaah. I may be sort-of-awake (which seems like a vindication of the sleep-when-you're tired approach to jetlag) but I obviously can't write yet. Sorry about all the passive voice.) I've now charged the gadget, loaded it with all the music and photos that happened to be handy on the laptop, and tucked it into a protective jacket. I'm quite impressed with its neatness.

I'm still resisting an iPod, but I must admit that I wonder whether one wouldn't be nice while I'm gardening, assuming I could acquire earphones that wouldn't get in the way or fall out. And that my neighbors wouldn't mind listening to me sing.

My ears seem to be fairly earphone-friendly, fortunately.
