Stupid allergies (and silly me for thinking I could get through the day on yesterday's 25mg of benadryl.) Yes, my allergies are very mild, mostly confined to nasal symptoms, and controllable with ridiculously small doses of antihistamine; they're still annoying.
Today I took delivery of a 2Gb memory card for my camera; it cost only slightly more than the first 256Mb I bought, and of course is of exactly the same physical size and (negligible) weight. I can remember when 1Gb was a big clumsy external box on my workstation.
At lunchtime I climbed up to the second-floor balcony on the Old Main building at the University. As the name implies, it's the oldest building on campus, and designed for the desert heat in pre-ac days; it's surrounded by deep shaded balconies on two levels. The upper balcony is wooden, and very dried-up by what could well be a century of 100-degree summers, so that the planks feel alarmingly fragile, but it isn't roped off or posted with keep-off signs, so presumably it isn't considered unsafe.
