Rain

It rained today, enough to wet the ground and register a whole four hundredths of an inch at the campus weather station. Late in the day, the sun crept through the gap between ground and clouds to produce a stub-end of rainbow and set the wet fronds of the palm trees down the street to sparkling as if festooned in fairy lights.

Funnily enough, because the rain here tends to be so localized, we do get them from time to time. I've hardly ever seen a full arch, though -- usually, like this one, it's just a stump.
