But is it Art?

I went walking on the campus at lunchtime. It's the time of citrus fruit and marigolds and clear sunlight that isn't too warm for comfort, and I went farther than I usually do -- all the way down to the turtle pond at the west end, where the turtles weren't posing but the water was like glass, and back by way of the little plaza with the art museum and the architecture and theater buildings. I found some more of those outdoor sculptures, which seem to have survived the students so far; these were more elaborate than the giant chickenwire onion I saw the other week; a tall basketweave spire and an airy sphere-and-saucer arrangement, all in silvery metal. Then there was the odd collection of wooden forms outside the architecture building; I suspect a student project, or projects, and I also suspect it wasn't quite finished yet. I was trying to pay attention to composition, to shape and light and avoiding extraneous background stuff, with only middling success.
