I have laundered, grocery-shopped, ordered a new belt for the vacuum cleaner, made some attempt at cleaning the carpet with the little Bissel sweeper, cooked an omelette for dinner, and watched the first episode of Stargate:Atlantis. I've also got my time to solve an 'easy' Sudoku down to about twenty minutes.

I've also -- after talking to my mother -- made up my mind to go for the China trip. It may end up being a six-week round-the-world trip in which I spend a week in China and five weeks in England; the logistics of that are a bit boggling, but perhaps not as bad as going to China and back here and then, two weeks later, to England.

Oh good, somebody's worse than I am. I average 12-15 minutes I think. Twice I've gotten as low as 7 min. 45 sec and I've never been so happy to be average in my life. My brain doesn't seem to work that way for some reason...

It's an interesting mental exercise, but it's making me wonder if my brain actually does logic, or just fakes it well enough for programming purposes.

I've only been doing it for a few days, so I hope I'll get better with practice. It would probably go faster if I didn't have to verbalize -- and subvocalize -- every step; that's partly just the way my brain works, and partly, I hope, unfamiliarity.
