My name is Rachel, and I'm a lurker. I've been lurking, on and off, on rasff since 1996, and rasfc since it started, rarely posting, but reading a lot, fascinated by the intersections of cultures -- as a transplanted Brit, that was useful as well as entertaining. Lurking started as shyness and became habit. More recently, I've been lurking on LiveJournal as well.
And now, timidly, I'm stepping out of the shadows. I don't know how active a participant I'll become; probably not very. I'd like to be able to add something, to give back -- or forward -- some of the joys of finding good writing in unexpected places.
Those of you I've added to my friends list: I hope you don't mind. You don't know me, but I've been reading you for years, and in some cases missed your voices when you gave up Usenet. Thank you for your insights, the glimpses into your lives. I know you weren't doing it for me, but I enjoyed it anyway.
