My laptop is new enough to qualify for the free upgrade, whenever HP gets around to sending it; this copy is for the desktop, which is a couple of years old. (The laptops in the icon are both running XP, and I'm not going to try upgrading them. Behemoth is pretty much retired anyway -- and was struggling mightily just to run XP, towards the end -- and Butterfly is the work-provided machine, which probably has a better chance of lasting me another year if I don't mess with it.)
I did bring the box home tonight, but I'm a little nervous. The last time I changed Windows versions on a live machine was probably back in the early 1990s, when 3.1 replaced 3.0.
