Aug. 4th, 2009 06:04 pmThe weather wasn't conducive to hiking today, so I went into town to look at the shops. There's a sizeable Ferris-wheel type thing, smaller than the London Eye but on the same general principle, by the Town Hall, rather overwhelming the other amusements on offer in the pedestrianized street.
In investigated one of Sheffield' few --- and quite small --- craft stores, and bought a few beads. If and when (and it's looking more like when, these day) I move back to the UK, I think I'm going to miss places like Michael's almost as much as the bookstores. (One of the staff in the craft shop was apparently planning a trip to one of the Disney places, and the other asked if she'd be visiting Michael's while she was there, in tones that implied the place was some kind of Mecca. (The whole shop would have fit in the bead department of my local Michael's.)
