May. 8th, 2008 09:39 pmSummer's coming; it isn't too hot yet, but it will be soon. Actually, we seem to have had a wonderfully long, cool spring, but it can't hold for ever; we're heading into the nineties now.
Four months, maybe five, and it should start to cool down again. I don't have to be here for all of it. I can do this. In the meantime, the allergies should calm down once the heat has withered most of the flowers.
Even after ten years, I don't really have coping strategies for Tucson summers that work for more than a couple of weeks, It's all uncomfortable compromises, between decency and comfort, between noise and heat, between semi-starvation and even worse heat and noise. By the end of the month I'll already be tired of salad and summer dresses and sleeping under a sheet, and there'll still be three months to go.

Date: 2008-05-09 05:20 am (UTC)I flirted with moving to the Tucson area a while ago, but after a week-long visit in August it was just so... unrelenting.

Date: 2008-05-09 05:48 am (UTC)For the other seven or eight months, though, it's lovely. We don't get many winter days that I wouldn't trade for a summer day back home -- or half a summer day, anyway, the day lengths being what they are. And we don't get hurricanes or or blizzards or ice storms or earthquakes or mudslides or proper tornadoes -- just the occasional microburst and some really spectacular thunderstorms.
