On holiday in sunny Sheffield
Aug. 17th, 2006 07:16 pmActually, not so sunny. The scars of the July heatwave are evident in scorched grass and exhausted wildflowers, but we've been rained off going out two days out of four so far. We did do the round walk on Tuesday, in the opposite direction to the one we normally take, and were out among the rocks and heather yesterday. I'm collecting photos of impressive orange bracket fungi, but the heather was glorious. Today they threatened thundery downpours; we stayed in all morning, then went out in the afternoon for an hour-long loop through the woods. The rain started about five minutes after we got home, so that was quite well timed.
I've been doing quite a bit of knitting and crochet, and last night a brand-new story idea popped into my head. I've been embellishing it as I knit. If any of the people had names, I might be tempted to make a start.
