It seems to have calmed down now, but the campus just got an inch and a quarter of rain in about an hour, with a 20-degree drop in temperature. (Nothing to do with Gustav and friends; I believe the story on this belt of moisture is that it comes from one of the lesser-known Pacific storms.)

The humidity brings an unwonted softness to the air, but it won't last; it's supposed to dry up a lot by tomorrow.
