Aug. 6th, 2008 08:48 pmI think I have working AC again. At least, Maintenance thinks he fixed it; it hasn't really been hot enough outside to be sure, the last couple of nights. We're having monsoon activity again; lots of humidity, and afternoon thunderstorms that make for relatively cool evenings. I'm still feeling worn out from the weekend of endless noise and never being cool enough.
One more trip, and then maybe no more this year. As it happens, next week's meeting is in Colorado; I'm flying to Denver on Sunday. If I'd thought of it, and if it was the sort of thing I wanted to do, I could have gone a couple of days early and combined it with WorldCon, but considering how hard a time I have with big gatherings of strangers it probably wouldn't have been a good idea. I hope those of you who are going have a good time, anway!
I'd run out of decaffeinated instant coffee, my usual evening tipple, so I picked up a small jar of Folgers crystals at the campus convenience store today, just to tide me over. It's not my usual brand, and it brings back instant memories of first long trip to the US, when I spent three weeks in Boulder, working at the University and lodging with a lady who spent her days watching the OJ Simpson trial; my self-catered dinners were bagged salad with lunchmeat or cottage cheese for protein, corn pops for carbohydrate and limp, sugar-free cookies for dessert, and the memory of all those tastes comes back with the taste and smell of that coffee.
