ellarien: cactus (desert)
Summer seem to be here; we hit 90F today for the first time this year, and I'm running the AC, which doesn't seem to be helping much. How many more Tucson summers can I take?

They have prickly pear in bloom up around Phoenix, and saguaros in bud.

I took the Eee along on this weekend's trip, packed in a book cover stiffened with cardboard and lined with the thin soft-foam bags from the desktop's packaging and tucked in my purse. It worked fine, and I got a "Is that an actual computer" from the guy next to me on the shuttle this afternoon.

The Scottsdale section of Loop 101 has the fanciest freeway-side wall art I've ever seen: colored bas-reliefs and pebbly inlays of snakes and lizards and cacti, making an attractive backdrop for the cacti planted on the banks.

Mission Statement

Reading, writing, plant photography, and the small details of my life, with digressions into science and computing.
