ellarien: two laptops (computers2)
Last night I tried to boot with the hub (minus keyboard and mouse) attached, and got the usual thing where the machine never managed to find its own hard drive.

Just now I decided to play a game of elimination. I plugged in the hub with nothing connected to it. Shut down. Switched on. Machine comes up, no problem. (This would have been impossibly tedious before I got the keyboard problem sorted.) Repeat, adding one peripheral at a time: printer, two external hard drives, floppy. Machine boots. Every. Time.

So now I have no idea. Will it boot happily from now on, or will it be a coin-flip every time? Did the one-at-a-time introduction actually help? What would happen if I plugged in the Dynex keyboard and unplugged the wireless one?

Veggies!

The winter squash and eggplant come with cooking suggestions, and the eggplant is surprisingly light for its bulk, or I wouldn't have dared.

I recognize this pattern in myself, actually; once I get interested in something, I start collecting one of everything, without any particular idea what I'm going to do with them all. It was the same when I started crocheting.

Also in this week's shopping bags: half a pound of salmon, half a pound of cheese, half a dozen eggs, a packet of cereal and a pint of milk; little containers of powdered paprika and oregano; a big bag of frozen chicken bits; three pears and a couple of apples; a bag of baby potatoes. There were supposed to be bananas too, but I forgot.

Oh, and a single-serve cheesecake, plain, which I will top with a spoonful of thawed-out mixed berries.

Now I should go an degrunge the kitchen ...
