Winter coming
Oct. 6th, 2007 06:53 pmIt's a bit early for the here-comes-winter wind, but early this morning the temperature and the humidity both dropped abruptly, which has to mean a colder, drier airmass moving in, and there's been a cool wind blowing all day.
Most of the stone fruit is gone from the grocery store, but I stocked up on apples and bananas and assorted squash and a few of the last dessert plums, and picked up a second steamer basket and a couple of knives. I have a theory that some of the squashes might go nicely with tomato-based pasta sauce, heretical though it might be. I look longingly at the huge, glossy eggplant, but they're much too big for one person.
