So far it hasn't rained, though today's walk revealed little piles of leftover sandbags in odd places, and a destroyed bridge in the woods which was exhaustively signed everywhere except at the top of the path going directly to it.
Yesterday I went into town, noting on the way a yucca and a Southern Magnolia in bloom, as well as the minarets of the new mosque towering over the shabby houses and shops of the inner city. There was a bungee trampoline in one of the shopping streets, with children bouncing solemnly up and down. I went down to inspect the new station frontage and took many photos; it's really quite impressive, with water cascading down steps and running down a shiny metal wall as well as a slightly more conventional dancing-jets fountain. (I'll post pictures when I have bandwidth again.)
My plans to manage without my own computer were slightly disrupted when it turned out I'd brought the wrong orange CD, the one that didn't have the Palm software, but it turns out that native-Word files on the expansion card can be read via the memory-card PC-card adapter I brought for the camera, so all is not lost. I actually wrote a couple of hundred words yesterday, but mostly I'm relaxing, reading and sleeping a lot.
