Dreaming

Possibly I should not use The Jennifer Morgue, delightful though it is, for bedtime reading. After that, on top of a day messing around online, and under an extra comforter because it was cold out, I was dreaming about a world reduced to chaos by some kind of zombifying evil -- narrated entirely in [livejournal.com profile] customers_suck posts.

Then there was the one in which I found myself explaining that, in an alternate world where elves didn't exist, it would of course be wrong for adherents of $religion to believe in them, but as they obviously did -- and had built most of the houses in my street -- it would be wrong not to. (They were nice houses. Very, very red brick, with gothic arches.)

5am breakfast call. No-one's had more than four hours sleep, and no-one wants to talk. Can we get over this and get on with the adventure, please?

I need more coffee.

Brrr!

It's cold out there! I just nipped over to the laundry room to drop off the ridiculous scrap of black lace that somehow insinuated itself into yesterday's load, and even with a jacket over a sweatshirt over a sweater, I'm still half frozen.

Up to about 800 words now. Daft thing's grown a small subplot on me, which I'll have to go back and patch in retrospectively. Got past breakfast, and now I'm pottering around putting off dealing with the next awkward moment. (Sorry I mislaid your husband, ma'am. I turned my back for five seconds and he just wandered off.)

My lower back feels a bit better today, but now the shoulder's complaining.

Now up to 1356 words for today. Word is getting ridiculously sluggish on me for some reason. So is my brain, but the 'body' scene is next, and I'd like to get that done because it'll be haunting me all day tomorrow if I don't. Maybe I'll take this to the other laptop and the living-room sofa.

2015 words today, and this is definitely not going to be finished in 10,000.

I very nearly made myself cry with the last bit, and I have the advantage of knowing for sure what's going on.
