Night Sounds

There was something hooting a while ago, or barking. Owl, maybe, or coyote.

Then, angry voices outside; young men, by the sound of it, quarreling on the the other side of the block. Not that common around here, actually.

Then sirens, a lot of them, whooping and hallooing in the night, converging.

But the sirens have faded into the distance again. No helicopter tonight, or at least not yet.
